"Aw, can you imagine what more of our children would look like?"
"If I could guarantee it would be a boy... or two boys..."
"Having twins again wouldn't be the most horrific nightmare I could imagine. I mean, if you're going to have one baby you might as well have two, right?"
"We would just have to put bunk-beds in both of the bedrooms".
Wait a minute...
WHAT?!
Have we developed amnesia? Have we lost our minds? What in the world are we talking about? We caught ourselves in one of these conversations today and were like "wow wow wow...back up, when did this become an okay thing to think about?" and we both firmly agreed that more children is a road we cannot go down. It's sad that we'll only do all this once, but ever since I discovered I was pregnant with twins, I always had the thought that it's the only time I'll do this. It does make me really appreciate things, but it's bittersweet watching your kids grow up, knowing you probably won't be having any more children.
While I was making dinner this evening, I looked up and watched as Orlando walked across the living room. He's really tall - he's 6'4". Then it struck me that if I had a boy, or TWO boys, they would be his boys. They would be big and tall and take up a lot of space and eat a lot of food. Scared me straight.

I'm pretty sure I've heard you say say exactly the opposite and that you've had actual nightmares about just that scenario! For months! lol Funny how so much can change in a year... :)

I found your blog via your post on twinstuff and have really enjoyed it (I went back and read all the old posts too). The above quote is my reality. Twin 20 month old boys, Papa is 6'4", paternal grandpa is 6'8". Ugh! Let's just say I've got good eaters...they don't exist on air like I've heard a lot of toddlers do.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting JOLT! Your husband is the same height as mine, and sounds like our kids are taking after them. I know what you mean about the good eating thing - mine eat full meals daily and are always trying to snack on my food too. I can't imagine what your grocery bill will be when your little toddler good eaters turn into big teenage boy good eaters!
When he appeared in my life, I was VERY happy! I was so hoping we would be good together! How he would delight me every day... how we'd talk about interesting stuff…
- And then what happened?
- Big disappointment! I give him the best of me, but he ... he screams at me!! He does not pay attention to me, does not even look in my direction… he also drinks heavily… sometimes he throws up all over the place! and even soils himself! it’s terrible. Right now, he is just lying there, staring blankly at the ceiling... it feels like life has passed me by.
- Oh boy. I'm sorry. Are you thinking of leaving him?
- I can’t, he is only two months old.
