Mommy Meetup Mayhem

So yesterday we attempted a Mommy Meetup at Little Nest. We walked down, and were inside for about ten minutes before we decided it was time to go. It was insanity; moms, babies, high chairs, kids running around. The energy was intense. It took about 4 minutes to get my baby limousine through the maze of strollers, mothers breastfeeding, babies in highchairs etc over to the table. It took about 30 seconds after I pulled in for the babies to begin melting down. 2 minutes in the lineup waiting for a cookie while Jen held crying Carmen and Jack tried to stand in the highchair. 4 minutes to back the stroller up and out the door.

I could feel all the mommy eyes sending telepathic condolences. I could hear the whispers 'oh my... poor woman'. About four moms came up to offer their help, one expressed how her table was watching me and how I had their utmost admiration. She said I was doing a great job and the babies looked happy and healthy. I thanked her, but wondered how happy two crying babies can really look!
Although I got nothing out of that ten minutes, I'm sure I put about 30 people's lives in perspective.

Hahaha! No kidding, all those Mums went home thinking "Thank God I don't have twins!" Just like my mantra was always "At least they're not triplets!" :)

You should definitely get an A++ for effort!

good on ya for attempting this. often i feel that getting the boys ready and out of the house and then all the work it takes to watch them and keep them happy and out of trouble in public at things like mums groups makes it not worth all of the effort... i feel like that crazy energy you were talking about it just not my scene and i/we are just as happy playing by ourselves in our yard. We go to church a couple of times a week so the boys get that social interaction at the nursery there so i dont feel like im depriving them of that and i dont need to go to mums groups to sit around and watch other moms go nuts in public :) glad you attempted it though! i have some friends who would go nuts just hanging out at home all the time and they just have to get out, are you like that? guess i am just a homebody. :)
